The portfolio title plays on the Malaysian slang “terpaling”
that spins on the superlative form meaning “the most”. It’s bold, a little ironic, and definitely self-aware. I chose this name not to claim I’m the best, but to reflect my ultimate goal: Excellence.
Terpaling captures both the ambition and the journey. The pursuit of going above expectations, even when the odds are stacked. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being intentional, consistent, and being committed to the craft.
“There’s a kind of folly in chasing your passion”
Which is what the portfolio title also captures;
Late nights, imposter syndrome, clinging on an iota of Faith when doubts kicks in. However, I’ve come to find clarity in the chaos.
Designing became more than just a skill, it became a practice of persistence.
I didn’t take the traditional route. While I do have a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology; My journey into Design are paved with countless hours of trial & errors, iterations, and most importantly, obsession.
Falling into design wasn’t a straight line; it was a chaotic leap of passion that turned into a quiet discipline.
Terpaling Designer is both a portfolio and a manifesto.
A reminder that mastery isn’t always measured by degrees nor titles, but by doing and relentless pursuit for Excellence.
